Description
Mesozooplankton data: species composition, abundance (ind/m3), biomass (mg/m3) collected during the National Monitoring Study (NMS_UA 2019) in the Ukrainian waters (North-Western part of the Black Sea) onboard the Vessel “Auguste Piccard”, (Ukraine) in August-October 2019
Data Records
The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 24 records.
2 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Geographic Coverage
Data collected within the EMBLAS-Plus “EU-UNDP Project 'Improving Environmental Monitoring in the Black Sea' (EMBLAS-Plus)” (http://emblasproject.org/). Mesozooplankton samples were collected by vertical Juday closing net (diameter of 36 cm - 0.1 m2 mouth opening area, and mesh aperture of 150µm) from 3 - 4 meters above the bottom for the shelf waters or from the oxygen minimum zone (Sig T 16.0) for the open sea waters, to the surface, at discrete layers depending of water stratification and thermocline depth. Usually samples from upper mixed layer, thermocline layer and from the oxygen minimum zone up to the thermocline were collected. Mesozooplankton samples were taken at all stations (20 stations - 23 samples). The samples were preserved in buffered with disodiumtetraborate (borax) (Na2B4O3.10H2O) 4% formalin solution. The samples were collected according to SOP for the cruise developed in EMBLAS II.
